Mastering an Informative Talk

Making the Informative Presentation Clear and Interesting

Mastering an Informative Talk teaches participants how to structure and deliver informative presentations that are easy to digest and enjoyable to listen to, This can be difficult when putting across a report's recommendations or giving an update. The workshop also sets out a strategy so that presenters can handle arising questions calmly and succinctly.

By the end of Mastering an Informative Talk delegates will know how to:

  • Identify the information that's of interest to the target audience
  • Employ various structuring templates to arrange the information clearly
  • Use storytelling elements to make the information more tangible and / or vital
  • Pick their words, so the audience is always able to follow the presentation
  • Prepare for questions and handle surprising or hostile questions effectively when they are posed
  • Use prompt cards skillfully
  • Project the information using the face, voice and body
  • Manage adrenaline

“I recall the first time I met Emma, it was on a University training day for voice management. Within moments I was completely enthralled by Emma’s approach, her ability to craft words and to engage an audience. It was at that point that I knew where I would be turning when I needed training for my final year learners. The work that Emma does is for everyone; seasoned presenters (everyone needs a critical friend), new presenters, or the simply curious who are looking for a new skill. I didn’t think that I would learn anything new – I was so wrong.”
